Samantha is interning as our Communications Coordinator here at WITNESS. Samantha is the first point of contact and support person for formerly incarcerated-led services and businesses. It is her great honor to be working with Witness to Mass Incarceration in this capacity as it is a unique privilege to work with and develop working relationships with formerly incarcerated individuals.
Samantha is an incoming senior at Tufts University majoring in International Relations with a Trade Economics Concentration and a French minor. Outside of her academics, Samantha is the president of Tufts Best Buddies, which fosters friendships between Tufts students and students with IDD at neighboring high schools. Samantha is also an advising fellow with Matriculate, which provides near-peer advising to high-achieving, low-income high school students.
“Working at WITNESS has taught me more about the Criminal Justice system than I could have ever imagined. Communicating with and learning directly from formerly incarcerated individuals has been an invaluable experience that has opened my eyes to both the rampant injustice in our system, as well as the resiliency and strength of formerly incarcerated people. As an individual who aspires to go into law, it is my responsibility to understand the justice system from every perspective. All too often, the perspectives of those who are impacted the most by the system, the formerly incarcerated, are ignored. WITNESS amplifies those voices and ensures that their voices are heard and their opinions are listened to.”
