The Art of Tailoring

 
 
 
 

The Art of Tailoring is a 2-year training program aimed at empowering formerly incarcerated individuals, system-impacted persons, LGBTQ+ youth, immigrants, and the asylum-seeking population. It consists of three different programs aimed focused on building entrepreneurial skills, developing essential tailoring skills, and expanding a growing business.

The program is FREE and provides equipment, fabric, sewing materials, and lunch. Throughout the program, participants will learn tailoring skills, guidance on building comprehensive business plans, set up their business, and gain hands-on experience in the fashion industry.


 

Pre-Apprenticeship Program (6 Months)

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

This program is designed to equip participants with essential skills in sewing, tailoring, and sustainable fashion through two structured 12-week training programs.

PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

EQUIP PARTICIPANTS WITH ESSENTIAL SKILLS in sewing, tailoring, and sustainable fashion through two structured 12-week training programs.


SEWING COURSE

Participants learn to create garment from patterns and develop essential tailoring skills

  • Constructing Shirts, Skirts, and Other Garments
  • Sewing and Garment Assembly
  • Machine Handling and Finishing Techniques
  • Culmination in a Fashion Show and Graduation

RECESSION FASHION

Focus on deconstruction and upcycling materials to create new, marketable fashion products.

Students will gain practical, real-world knowledge of running a fashion business. They will start with a business concept and end with a fully operational business, equipped with hands-on experience in both in-person and online sales.

Apprenticeship Program (12 Months)

BUSINESS GROWTH & START-UP

This program is designed for aspiring fashion entrepreneurs who are either in the early stages of starting their fashion businesses or looking to grow an existing one. Over the course of year, you'll receive hands-on training in fashion design, business strategy, and digital marketing, tailored to help you either launch a new brand or expand an existing one.

Incubator Program (6 Months)

FASHION DESIGN

This 6-month Fashion Business Accelerator is designed for established fashion entrepreneurs seeking to scale their small businesses to the next level. The program offers advanced training in strategic business growth, operational efficiency, and market expansion. Participants will refine their brand strategies, optimize their production processes, and enhance their e-commerce presence to drive significant growth in their businesses.
