Nirali Patel

Nirali is a rising senior at the University of Michigan studying International Studies with a minor in User Experience (UX) Design.  Outside of class, she has been a student journalist since her freshman year, mainly as a campus news reporter and investigative reporter. Through her extensive coverage on issues such as sexual misconduct, worker’s rights, reproductive healthcare, and various protests on campus, Nirali has grown a passion for social justice and writing stories about the various communities affected by inequities. She is driven to work with WITNESS as a journalist, amplifying the voices of formerly incarcerated individuals through storytelling and learning more about the criminal justice system. 

Nirali is also very passionate about feminism and  engages with women empowerment within the  South Asian community. In her free time, she loves explore book shops, watching shows, and trying new coffee places.
