Alexis Carel

Lex is Evie's summer assistant (an "everything bagel") and part of Witness' journalism team. Originally studying sociology as a freshman at the University of Delaware, Lex immediately took a winter criminology course taught by a formerly incarcerated professor that altered their focus and passions completely and permanently. Following this, she completed an independent study with the same professor, exploring specifically juvenile recidivism rates. With a background in psychology, criminal justice, sociology, and university newsroom experience, Lex is excited to aid Evie this summer with her work at Witness, as well as continue to learn how to tell stories from one of the best storytellers around. She hopes in the future to be able to work in the field of forensic psychology and plans to pursue a master's degree in the subject. In their free time, Lex enjoys karaoke, playing video games to "relax," piano, dance, yoga, and is in the process of learning ASL.
