Sydney Trost

Sydney is a rising junior at Colgate University, majoring in political science and minoring in writing & rhetoric. Sydney calls Dix Hills, Long Island her home. She is a leader for a community service group called Colgate Buddies, where she organizes community service events with disabled adults and children living in Central New York. Over the summer, Sydney volunteers at a local nonprofit called HorseAbility, which helps support disabled individuals through horseback riding. Through these experiences, Sydney found her passion for helping others and became interested in the nonprofit sector. In her free time, Sydney loves writing personal narratives, going to the beach, listening to music, and playing with her bulldog. After taking a writing class called “Discourses of Race & Racism”, Sydney became interested in how rhetoric has perpetuated systemic inequalities within the criminal justice and education system. Sydney is excited to help write about the stories of formerly incarcerated people at Witness.
