Interfaith Leadership Council (ILC)
All humankind is created b'tezelem Elohim - in the image of G-d
Currently and formerly incarcerated elderly people face unique problems. Many have needlessly remained in prison until old age, although they have paid their debt to society and no longer pose any safety concerns. Others have been released at an advanced age, only to struggle with food insecurity and a lack of income and stable housing. The Witness Interfaith Leaders Council helps Witness plan our efforts for this too often overlooked population. This advisory council helps plan advocacy efforts for more pardons and clemency for incarcerated seniors, and develops policies and programs to help seniors successfully reenter communities with the resources they need.
YOU Power
YOU: Youth Outreach for Unity
Young people are leading a historic movement for change, marching in the streets for social change and racial justice, and against needless gun violence. Now, they are organizing with Witness to end mass incarceration. The Youth Outreach in Unity (YOU) advisory council engages high school and college students to work with Witness to end mass incarceration. YOU helps Witness staff identify and address issues in the criminal legal system that affect youth. YOU develops a new generation of committed leaders in the effort to end mass incarceration.
