Sophie Niesciur

Sophie Niesciur is in her first year at Hunter Silberman School of Social Work where she is pursuing her Masters degree in Social Work with a concentration in Community Organization, Planning, and Development. Originally from Buffalo, NY, Sophie received her Bachelor of Arts from Binghamton University and began a career working with the National Parks of New York Harbor in conjunction with an environmental non-profit. Sophie then became a Park Ranger with the National Park Service at General Grant National Memorial , but ultimately decided to pursue a career in social work in order to fulfill her lifelong desire to help people and promote equity within communities.

After graduating in 2023, Sophie hopes to work as a social worker in issues surrounding criminal justice and prison reform. Sophie is eager to work with Witness to Mass Incarceration to help support and empower individuals, and elevate the public awareness on mass incarceration.
