Katherine is a sophomore at Barnard College, majoring in Sociology and Human Rights with a minor in Political Science. From Boston, MA, Katherine has enjoyed working directly in her community through volunteering with local nonprofits and community-based organizations. Briefly living in Cotonou, Benin, Katherine became involved in human trafficking prevention, which led her into the world of social advocacy. This social advocacy prompted Katherine to engage more seriously with nonprofit organizations such as the Bootstrap Business School and L’Atelier des Griots. These groups work directly with community members, a quality that she loves about WITNESS and finds essential in all activism work. A member of Columbia University Votes, Katherine looks forward to participating in Columbia University’s Amnesty International chapter and potentially joining the Undergraduate Law Review. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends, developing photographs in the darkroom, and phone banking for political campaigns. Katherine deeply believes in WITNESS’ mission and is thrilled to be joining the team.
