Hope Swetow

Hope (she/her) is a sophomore at Colgate University, majoring in English and minoring in Sociology. She is a staff writer for Colgate’s student-led newspaper, The Maroon News, where she writes and edits biweekly profiles and features. In the fall of 2021, Hope joined The Medusa Movement, an on-campus activist group that raises awareness of sexual assault and provides resources to survivors. Hope is often horseback riding with the Colgate club equestrian team when she is not on campus.

Before college, Hope had lived in Brooklyn, NY, since her birth. She had several opportunities to work with and learn about nonprofit organizations throughout high school. On the weekends, Hope volunteered for Seaside 4 Therapeutic Riding, an organization devoted to helping people with disabilities through the use of horses. She also completed an externship where she worked with an attorney employed by nonprofit organizations. These experiences prompted her interest in nonprofit work. Hope is inspired by WITNESS’ mission and values and excited to work with the team.
