SUBSCRIBE to Witness to Mass Incarceration

I was incarcerated twice. I spent my days talking to women about their lives. Their stories inspired me to create this project.

I want those incarcerated to be witnesses to America’s four decades of Mass Incarceration . And I want those who are formerly incarcerated to tell how impossible it is to return to the Free World.

65 million people are convicted of a crime. Twenty million are either in prison ( 2.3 million), jail ( 12 million) or under supervised release (5.9 million). Each one of these twenty million lose their jobs, often their home and family.

It is time to rethink punishment. It is time to decriminalize not write more laws that put people into prison. It is also time to get people out of prison. The mentally ill, juveniles and the elderly need to be removed.
